About LaptopMastery

LaptopMastery is an independent website that helps people choose, use and look after their laptops, without the jargon and without the hype.

Who’s behind LaptopMastery

Nathan Emerick

Nathan Emerick founded LaptopMastery. He has spent more than 30 years in IT, from hands-on technical support and infrastructure to security and leading service teams. That means a lot of time fixing, upgrading, securing and choosing the laptops people depend on every day.

LaptopMastery is where he puts that experience into plain English: which laptops are actually worth buying, how to fix the common problems yourself, and how to make your hardware last. He also runs Outshined.io, which helps small businesses adopt AI safely and practically.

What we publish

  • Buying guides that recommend a short list of laptops and accessories you can actually buy today, with honest pros and cons.
  • How-to tutorials with step-by-step instructions for Windows and Mac, written for current versions (Windows 11 and macOS Tahoe).
  • Tips and maintenance covering the habits that make a laptop faster, cooler and longer-lasting.

How we research recommendations

We’re upfront about how our recommendations are made. We don’t accept free review units in exchange for coverage, and no brand can pay to be included. Our picks are based on:

  • Manufacturer specifications, checked against the exact configuration we link to
  • Published lab testing from established reviewers (battery rundowns, thermal tests, display measurements)
  • Patterns in large numbers of verified owner reviews, especially long-term reliability complaints
  • Our own experience using, upgrading and troubleshooting laptops

Where we haven’t personally used a product, we say so rather than implying hands-on testing. Read more in our affiliate disclosure and product selection policy.

Keeping things current

Laptop models, prices and software change constantly. We review our buying guides regularly, check that every product link still works, and update instructions when Windows or macOS changes.

Corrections

If you spot something wrong or out of date, please tell us. We fix errors promptly.

How the site is funded

LaptopMastery is reader-supported. When you buy through some of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes what we recommend. See our affiliate disclosure.
